Let’s Talk Money
Let’s Talk Money is an action-oriented course in basic nonprofit finance. It includes a 20-page workbook, with written exercises to help you practice what you’ve learned and apply your knowledge to your own situation.
In this course, you’ll learn the following:
- 5 roles in nonprofit finance
- How to work with your culture and emotions around finance
- 5 finance questions you should be asking about your nonprofit
- How to read 4 key financial statements
- Compliance and the IRS Form 990
- Internal controls and how to set them up
The course is intended for the following audience:
- Board members
- Executive directors, staff members, and volunteers who handle money and budgets
- Members of a nonprofit community who are experienced with for-profit finance and want to understand the differences
- Mentors and teachers who want to help others understand nonprofit finance
- Anyone involved in running a nonprofit organization
After completing all lessons and passing a brief quiz, students will receive a Certificate of Completion.
Video run time for the 4 lessons is 35 minutes. Total course time is 1 to 2 hours.
